John "Jim" James Maloney, aged 84, passed away at his home in Parker, CO, surrounded by family on February 14, 2026. Born in Troy, NY, to John and Dorothy (Gentile) Maloney, he grew up in Waterford, NY, and graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy in 1959. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Siena College in 1961 before joining the Air Force, later completing a master’s in economics at the University of Michigan. With more than 28 years of service, he retired as a Colonel and continued his career as a successful realtor until retirement. He spent the next two decades enjoying time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. Jim loved traveling, collecting American Revolutionary soldiers, walking daily, and making friends wherever he went.

He is survived by Marion Romanelli, his wife of 62 years, of Cohoes; daughters Shannon of Parker, CO and Robin (Scott) Burgan of Aurora, CO; son Tim (Nicole) Maloney of Effingham, IL; six grandchildren: Bean (Karissa Stolen) Burgan, Sara Burgan, Noah Burgan, Aidan Maloney, Teagan Maloney, and Niav Maloney; sister Mary Ellen (John) Ward of Ballston Spa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Maloney, and his sister Laurie Ann.

Visitation and services will be held Tuesday, Feb 24th from 1 to 4 pm at Horan & McConaty in Aurora, CO. A full military funeral will take place Thursday, Feb 26th in the morning at Fort Logan Cemetery.
