John F. Gishpert of Denver died on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016 in Wheat Ridge, CO. He was 86 years old. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at 7:00 PM, Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227. Funeral Mass Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, 10:30 AM, Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80219. Interment later at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Broken Bow, Nebraska. John was born Nov. 9, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska to Raymond Koebel and Eleanor (Stillman) Gishpert. He was raised in Broken Bow, Nebraska and graduated from BBHS in 1947. On May 7, 1966 he married Kathleen Peshek in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. What more could any person ask for from life: raised in a loving, wonderful family; he was an altar boy, Eagle Boy Scout, clerk in a hardware store, soda jerk in a drug store, member of the high school band and choir, a farm hand, a campus radio disk jockey while a student at Creighton University (pre-engineering), student at St. Thomas Seminary (BA Philosophy), worked as a surveyor, drafter into the army, carpenter/painter, University of Nebraska (BscEE) and University of Denver toward (MSEE) an electrical/manager on the leading edge of high technology at the beginning of the Space Age at Martin Marietta. He had two loving wives, 4 daughters and their families, many friends and led by the Holy Spirit to a full, happy life. He also enjoyed traveling, photography, home, garden, reading and computers. He is survived by his wife Kay; daughters: Mary (Sam) Lucas of Denver, their children John, Jenny, Jessica; Anne Gishpert of Delta, CO; Theresa (Henry) Sheffler of Richmond, VA, their children Margaret, Madeline, Matthew; Rebecca (Brad) Wells of Houston, TX, their children Kaitlyn, Kyle, Amanda, Michael; nephews Mike, Tim and Jim Fox and their families. John was preceded in death by his parents Eleanor and Raymond; brother James Raymond; his first wife Joyce (Smith); a baby daughter; sister Elizabeth Gishpert.
