John Frederick Deeser

At 94 years young, he passed away peacefully at home, to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2025

He was born on February 8, 1931, the son of Alfred and Lillian Deeser of Canton, Ohio.

John was a heavy equipment operator before branching out and starting his own businesses, Deeser Excavating Company, JD Water and D & M Well Service.

He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean war, where he saw combat, and was discharged with distinction after faithfully fulfilling his duty to his country.

John had a lifelong love for dogs, especially Boston Terriers. He cherished time with family and friends and enjoyed living at Lake Buckhorn in Millersburg, Ohio, where he spent many days water skiing and golfing.

He enjoyed thirty plus years of “glamping” during winter months, tending to his garden, fishing, and boating at Lake Powell along with snow skiing and golfing on the western slopes of Colorado near Glenwood Springs, where John and Anne Marie retired. During his later years he enjoyed building Lego kits for his great grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anne Marie Deeser nee. Pohl; daughters, Vera (Charles) Gaines; Cheryl (Richard) Kenney and Sandra (Timothy) Mangnall. Grandchildren, Paul (Vanessa) Brumme and children Alanna and Kelsey; Brian Brumme; Courtney (Matthew) McGarry and children, Carter, Bryant and Maddox; Michael (Kelly) Kenney; Justin (Dana Thomas) Mangnall and children Kenna and Jd Thomas; Morgan (Matthew) Cawley and children, Brody and Brek. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, Alfred Junior, Robert (Esther) and Betty (Kenneth) Craig.

His celebration of life will be held at the Horan & McConaty funeral home on December 12th at 2:15 pm at the Aurora location on 11150 Dartmouth Ave. See more service details below.
