John Corbett McDonnell

July 29, 1954 — August 28, 2024

Lafayette, Colorado

John “Jack” Corbett McDonnell, aged 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, with his family and beloved dog, Annie, by his side.

Jack was raised in Morgan, New Jersey, and graduated from Sayreville War Memorial High School in 1972. He went on to receive his B.S. in Finance from Fairfield University in 1976. Jack and Gwen got married in 1983, and raised their children in South River, New Jersey. He put himself through night school and earned his MBA from Monmouth University in 1995, which ultimately put him on a new career path and led him and his family to move to Brookfield, Connecticut, in 1998.

From there, Jack traveled extensively for work, getting to see (and photograph!) nearly every corner of our planet. He recently retired with his wife and their dog in the Boulder, Colorado, suburbs.

Jack will forever be remembered for his kindness and sense of humor, having touched lives all over the world thanks to his wide-ranging travels.

Jack was preceded by his mother, Joan, and brother, Bill. He is survived by his wife, Gwen, and his two children, Lauren and Sean, and leaves behind a host of grieving friends from all across the US, the UK, Germany, Poland, and many places beyond.

Jack loved animals and hated cancer. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to either Moms and Mutts Colorado Rescue https://mamcorescue.org/donations/ or Cancer Research Institute https://give.cancerresearch.org/site/Donation2?df_id=2560&mfc_pref=T&2560.donation=form1
