Johanna Elisa van Munster

December 31, 1931 — September 3, 2014

Johanna Elisa van Munster, 82, of Parker, Colorado, passed away September 3, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Johanna was born December 31, 1931 in Tegelen, Limburg, Netherlands to Pierre and Mathilde Peeters-Laugs. Johanna, who went by Hanny, grew up in a small town in Holland. She and Antonius (Toine), who grew up in the village next door, were married in 1954 at the Martinus Kerk, in Tegelen. Hanny and Toine immigrated to the USA in 1957 and settled in New Jersey where their 2 daughters, Joan and Carol, were born. They moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois where they lived for 30 years, raising their family. One of Toine's sisters, Corry vanden Dolder and her husband Jan, along with their 6 children, lived nearby and the families spent much time together. Hanny and Toine traveled extensively, maintaining close relationships with their families in Holland. As they became grandparents, Carol and her family were blessed to have Oma and Opa be an active part of their lives, attending many of the boys' hockey games. In 1992 they decided to retire to Denver and live near their daughter, Joan, and her family. There Hanny became active in the Mountain Pine Women's Club, where she was honored to be an active member for over 20 years. Hanny lived her life looking at the possibilities, seeking fun and adventure, and sharing her many talents, including beautiful knitting, crocheting, card-making. Hanny is survived by her husband, Antonius C. van Munster; two daughters, Joan M. Miller and Carol A. Zimmer; son-in-law, David J. Zimmer; Grandchildren, Hannah R. Miller, Elise C. Miller, Gretchen V. Miller, Devin A. Zimmer, Westley D. Zimmer; and brother, Jack Peeters (wife, Leonie).
