Joel James Weaver, Sr., a devoted family man and skilled automotive mechanic, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at his residence in Thornton, Colorado. Born on February 5, 1951, in Denver, Colorado, Joel’s life journey was marked by his deep love for his family and his passion for the open road.
Joel’s hands, gifted with the knowledge and precision of an experienced mechanic, spent decades nurturing vehicles back to life, a craft he honed with pride and dedication. However, beyond his career, it was the simple joys of camping under the stars, riding his motorcycle with the wind as his companion, and most importantly, spending cherished moments with his beloved family that truly defined him.
Surrounded by the warmth and love of those closest to him, Joel left this world with grace, embraced by the family he held dear. He is survived by his devoted wife, Shelley Marie Romero Weaver, whose companionship was a source of unwavering strength. His legacy lives on through his daughters: Kimberly Love, Louise Weaver, Denice Bailey, Joelle Rodriguez, Lucy Weaver, Marlo Shanks, and Stephanie Ysco. Their lives are further enriched by 34 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of Joel’s spirit and love forward.
Joel’s path was preceded by those he held close in memory — his grandparents, Ray and Lucy Apodaca Weaver, whose roots laid the foundation for his family’s enduring values; his mother, Louise Weaver; his sister, Julianne Weaver; and his sons, Joel Weaver, Jr. and AJ Davalos, whose memories remain etched in the heart of every family gathering.
Through every twist and turn, Joel James Weaver, Sr. exemplified a life of dedication, love, and joy. His presence was a steady engine of support and warmth, and though he now rides beyond the horizon, his spirit will forever echo in the laughter and stories shared by those who loved him. His journey may have ended, but the road of his impact stretches on through all who were blessed to know him.
