Joe W. ""Jay"" Stringer

November 9, 1931 — November 2, 2018

Joe W. ""Jay"" Stringer passed away November 2, 2018. He was born to Pearl and Delbert Stringer of Ada, OK on November 9th, 1931.

After graduating high school in Eunice, NM in 1949, Joe served in the U. S. Navy. It was while working oil piplines in Texas and New Mexico that he met and married his wife of 61 years, Joyce Cazzell in Tucumcari, NM, in 1955. A job at Rocky Flats Nuclear facility northwest of Denver brought the family to Colorado in 1966. After leaving Rocky Flats he worked at IBM and Storage Tech before returning to work for the US Government. Joe also served his community as a volunteer fireman for the Arvada Fire Department for several years. Joe and Joyce relocated to Goodland, KS after retirement until moving back to Arvada to be closer to family their last years.

He is survived by his children LaJuana (Paul) Duff, Martin (Linda Weiser) Stringer, Debra Hiestand, Linda (Tom) Mitchell, and RoseAnne Stringer; his grandchildren Jessica (Caleb) Headley, Heather (Sammy) Terrazas, Tracy Desch, Tiffany (Blair) Yeager, Dustin (Jolie) Hiestand, Lacey (Chase) Rehor, Cliff Patterson, Chris Mitchell, Sarah (Jim) Boutwell, and Lindsay (Nick) Corona; his great-grandchildren Ashley McClelland, Austin Delsordo, Madison Ditmore, Kyra Headley, Cole Headley, Brady Headley, Izabella Headley, Eliana Terrazas, Trevor Rodgers, Mardy Rodgers, Nick Sopris, Tyler Sopris, Allyson Boettcher, Ada Hiestand, Abel Hiestand, Jackson Rehor, Avery Rehor, Celeste Adams, Daniel Wade, Kailey Corona, Emmeri Corona, and the newest baby who is 99.44% done cooking and will shortly join the family; his siblings Mary Pruitt, Jesse ""Tootsie"" (Luis) Bayes, George (Retha) Stringer; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife; his parents; his son-in-law Leonard Hiestand; his granddaugter Kendra Delsordo; his great-granddaughter Chelsae Delsordo; his sister Helen ""Dutch"" Mason; and his brother-in-laws Doyle Pruitt and Benny Mason.

There will be a Funeral Service in Joe's honor on Sunday, November 4th at 11am at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel 7577 West 80th, Avenue in Arvada, CO. Please join the family for a luncheon following the services. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife at Arvada Cemetery on Saturday, November 10th at 10:30am.
