Joe R. Morehead

Joe R. Morehead passed on April 22, 2025. Joe was born October 11, 1944 to Presley Leland Morehead (Pep) & LaNora Mae Dorough (Lani) in Tampa, Florida. The middle child of three, he is preceded in death by his siblings Jim and Janet, niece Gia and grandson Mackenzie. Joe was an Engineer who had a passion for learning, astronomy, mathematics, sailing and languages of the world.

Although he was born in the state of Florida, he loved Colorado. He received a degree in Aerospace Engineering and a degree in Civil engineering from Colorado University. After graduation he held roles in both engineering fields. As an Alumni of Colorado University he loved the Buffs and was a lifetime Broncos fan. In his younger years, he helped plant the Mount Vernon Gardens at Washington Park where he added to the beauty of the state he called home.

Joe will be remembered for his unique humor, love of sports and wide array of knowledge. The amount of love Joe gave to those he loved was unparalleled and his selflessness unmatched. Joe is survived by his three sons - Ryan, Danny & Donny, four grandchildren - Claire, Madison, Callie & Gabriel, and three great-grandchildren Cooper, Charlotte & Hazel, niece Piera and nephew Shawn.
