Joan Charlene Zak

Joan Charlene Zak passed away on August 17, 2015. Born in Minerva, Ohio to Ila Avalyn Deardorff Haines and Rolland Curtis Haines, Joan was the beloved Mom to Kim Patmore (Tom Haller) and Steve Patmore (Barbara) and the cherished Nana to Abbe Holmgren (Aaron) and Emily Haller. She was also a loving Aunt and friend to many. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her dearly loved Grandpa, Henry Deardorff and her brother, George Haines and his adored wife, Estella. Joan worked in Toledo, Ohio as a human resource director for a manufacturing company and retired from there in 1989 to move to Colorado to be closer to her future grandchildren. Joan became Nana and came out of retirement to care for Abbe and Emily. She declared this, ""The BEST job I ever had!"" Please join us for a celebration of Joan's wonderful life on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 3:00pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block west of Holly Street) in Centennial, CO 80122. In lieu of flowers (they reminded Joan of funerals, not celebrations), contributions may be made to St. Olaf College (1520 St. Olaf Ave., Northfield, Minnesota 55057) for student music scholarships or to Iliff School of Theology (2323 E. Iliff Ave., Denver, Colorado 80210-4798) for student scholarships for students pursuing a life of service in the areas of social change and justice.
