Joan Angela Kennedy

Joan Angela Kennedy’s soul passed into heaven August 8, 2023. She was 90 years old. Her family kept vigil with her at Rose Hospital and Denver Hospice in her last days.  She and her identical twin sister Jean were born April 3, 1933. She graduated from Holy Family High School and enrolled in Nursing School with her sister Jean, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado. She married our father Charles Jerome (Jerry) Kennedy, and they had many adventures in their 70 years of marriage until our father’s death in May of 2022.

Mom loved her family first and foremost and was a “super mom” before that phrase was widely used. She was a gourmet cook, expert seamstress - even creating a wedding gown for Kate - Cub Scout leader, and President of the PTA at Holy Family.

Life was rarely dull at the Kennedy home. In between her craft business, Tennis Club and Gourmet Club, she and our father attended several Carousel Balls, traveled to Europe, Mexico and Las Vegas, and even had dinners with Elvis Presley. But our favorite dinners were always the ones she expertly cooked at “Casa Kennedy” for the family. When she wasn’t cooking, she was knitting, turning out literally 100’s of knitted items of her own creation in exotic yarns.

She is survived by her children Tom Kennedy (Elaine), Kate Eagleton (Mike), Colleen Kennedy (John) and grandchildren Case Kennedy Albinson (Kevin), Jessica Kennedy (Max), Madeline Eagleton, Benjamin Eagleton, Caroline Brewer and Michael Brewer and great grandchild Auggie. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Jerome Kennedy parents Ora and Charley Persichitte, brothers Robert and Ray Persichitte and sisters Grace Roach and Jean Zamora. Mom touched so many lives and was an example to all of us for strength, perseverance, kindness, and love. We miss her dearly.

Services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday Aug. 17, 2023 at Horan & McConaty 7577 W 80th Ave. Arvada, CO. 80003, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at HoranCares.com . The family will have a private burial.
