Joan Thelma Garrod

Joan Thelma Garrod, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch of the Garrod family, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2025 at the age of 89, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on July 3, 1936, she lived a life anchored in faith, courage, and unwavering devotion to her family and to the Lord. She was born in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Thelma and James Sheehan. Joan attended Saint Joesphs High School, and it was during these years that she met her husband, George Garrod. They married in 1955 and went on to build a beautiful life together, celebrating 70 years of marriage. Joan had 6 children, 20 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. She built a legacy rooted in love, resilience, humor, and grace. She was a steady place, a prayer warrior, an encourager, and a living example of what it means to love fiercely.

Joan is survived by her husband, George Garrod; children Michael Garrod (Mai), Steve Garrod (Debbie), Jackie Miller (Greg), Janet Sullivan (Dennis), Georgia Garrod, and John Garrod; and her siblings, brother Jerry Sheehan (Reba) and sister Donna Leprino (the late James Leprino). Preceded in death by her sister Betty Little. She leaves behind a family who will carry her love forward forever.
