Jo Ann Langfield passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on April 2, 2024 at the age of 92.
She was born in Denver, Colorado on May 3, 1931 to George and Louise Koelbert and was raised with her precious sisters, Jane (Wilkins) and Georgie (Long). While still in high school, Jo Ann met the love of her life, Ed Langfield. They were married on September 1, 1951 and began their family. Together they raised eight children all of whom survive them: Kathleen Carr (Michael), Marleen Langfield (Bruce), Dorothy Hackett (Pete), Joseph Langfield (Kathryn), George Langfield (Nancy), Mary Neumeyer (Jeff), Theresa Burke (Jerry) and Paul Langfield (Tammy). As the family expanded, Jo Ann was blessed with twenty-one grandchildren and five great grandchildren with another on the way.
Jo Ann was an amazing mother and devoted her life to ensuring that her children had everything they needed to flourish and to be happy. She was kind and gentle but could be formidable when necessary. And she had a wonderful sense of humor. As grandchildren came along, she really enjoyed them and loved them with all her heart.
Jo Ann was a woman of tremendous faith. She was a lifelong Catholic and loved Jesus. She had special devotion to Our Lady and, along with Ed was very active in the Marian movement running the Rocky Mountain Marian Center/Center for Peace – Denver and leading many pilgrimages to Medjugorje. In recent years, her life was devoted to prayer happily anticipating greater union with God and reconnecting with her beloved husband, Ed.
To honor Jo Ann's great love of children, in lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Dominic Church for the St. Margaret of Castello Center which provides assistance for struggling young families, would be deeply appreciated.Sunday, April 21, 2024
