Jessica Marie Skiles

Jessica Marie Skiles passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the age of 37. She was loved and will be missed by her mother and best friend, Gerry Hernandez; father, Greg Skiles; and brother, Casey Skiles. Jessica was a bright light in this world and accomplished so many things. She attended the University of Colorado - Denver where she achieved her bachelor's degree in psychology. After working in this field for a while, she decided to go to the Denver School of Nursing, where she received her bachelor's degree in nursing. She began working as a Registered Nurse at Denver Health right after graduation and recently became the Charge Nurse for the Acute Care Unit. Jessica spent her time away from work either reading, as she was an avid reader, or with family and friends. Jessica's love for dogs brought her family many stray doggie members, as they just could not say no to that beautiful face. Her laugh was infectious and she loved sending family and friends funny photos and videos. Growing up, Jessica spent a lot of time with her paternal grandparents, as they were like second parents to Jessica and Casey. Both Howard and Marguerite Skiles preceded her in death. When she was younger her father's brother, Uncle Kirk, would bring his family to Colorado, where they would gather to have Easter egg hunts at her grandparents and go to Elitch's. Family was a big part of her life. Traveling back to Nebraska for family reunions in the summer and holiday parties always excited her, as that is where her maternal grandparents, Joe and Angie Hernandez live, along with her Aunt Tricia, Uncle Scott, their son Joel, cousin Dakota, Dakota's father was Jessica's Uncle Ed (her mother's brother) who preceded her in death, cousin Trevor and Aunt Dawne. Some of the best times Jessica had was working at and meeting her wonderful ""family"" at Water World. When Casey started working there too, the two of them became even closer than they already were. Jessica would want everyone to think of her with your best memory and take that memory and enjoy life! A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with the Memorial Service honoring Jessica beginning at 2:00 p.m. both at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80003.
