Jesse met his second wife, Carol, in 1982, and they married in 1991. In addition to his military service, Jesse earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and worked for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. After he retired from HUD in 1997, Jesse and Carol established and operated a successful business providing construction inspections and renovation loan inspections. During this time, their youngest son, Jared, was born in 1993. Jesse retired from his business in 2014.

A lifelong passion of Jesse’s was the Boy Scouts, of which he was a continuous member for over 50 years. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout, as did both of his sons and his nephew.
