Jerry Don Cobb lost his long battle with cancer just short of his 74th birthday peacefully at home surrounded by family. Jerry was born March 20, 1950 in Clayton, New Mexico to Cecil and Celia Cobb. He grew up in Keyes, Oklahoma with his sister Bonnie, brothers Tom, Rocky, and Mickey. Jerry started driving a John Deere tractor at age 10, helping with plowing and planting grain. He kept busy in high school playing football, playing the clarinet and helping his dad with the watering, feeding, and doctoring of cattle. He also worked for the Wiesbart Cattle Company near Keyes, where there was always work with cattle, windmills to maintain, fences to build, and branding. 

He graduated from Keyes High School in 1968 and went to Panhandle State College in Goodwell, Oklahoma. Jerry moved to Byers, Colorado in the early 1970’s where he coached Little League baseball, raised greyhounds, worked as an auto mechanic and in the oil fields for Amoco Production Company. 

Jerry met the love of his life, Beverly, in April of 1981. They united in marriage on May 15, 1982, at Grace Lutheran Church in Denver. In 1988, Jerry started working for the City of Englewood as a mechanic in the wastewater treatment plant where he retired in 2015 after 27 years. Jerry loved to tell stories! He was an avid reader and history buff. He also loved collecting and shooting guns. Most of all, he loved his family and friends! 

Jerry leaves behind his wife, Beverly; sister, Bonnie; brothers Tom and Mickey; his children and their spouses; Travis (Silke) Smith, Amity (Lew) Halboth, Colleen (Mike) Fedorchak; eight grandchildren; Justin Pennetta, Brittany (Ryan) Engleking, Joe (Teya) Halboth, Lilly (Carsten) Dietvorst, Haley Smith, Cody Smith, Michael Halboth, and Loretta Halboth and his favorite granddog, Bear. He also leaves behind eight great grandchildren. He was a beloved uncle to Nikki, Beth, Shawn, Megan, Nate, Nolan, Amber, Halley, Jim, and Greg. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rocky. 

Jerry’s funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 11th at 10:00am at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 11500 E. Iliff Ave. Aurora, CO. He will be laid to rest at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO.
