Jerome (Jerry) Joseph Panfil

d. April 7, 2024

Jerry loved life and was always determined to do his best!

Born into this world with physical challenges, Jerry began his drumming career at age 4 to help develop his coordination. Jerry gained his love of music from our Dad, a professional musician, who introduced our family to many different styles of music and musical instruments. In Jerry's early and teen years, he played drums in a number of dance bands and thoroughly enjoyed the music and friendships he made. Throughout Jerry's life, he owned at least 5 complete drum sets - maybe more - which he eventually donated to schools and young musicians. Jerry was a very generous person.

Jerry loved his family and many friends. He was extremely proud of his 30+ years of service working for the Michael Best & Friedrich law firm. He made many friends there and stayed in contact with some even after his retirement.

Jerry loved the "hunt" for coins, tokens and various collectible items which interested him. He also had an extensive collection of record albums - country music being his favorite. (Waylon, Johnny & Willie were his favorites). He loved going to antique malls, flea markets and garage / yard sales. Jerry was a member of the American Numismatic Society for over 40 years and also his local Numismatic Society. He enjoyed going to their meetings, hearing and learning from various speakers, and of course, visiting with his friends there.

Going out to a restaurant was always one of Jerry's favorite things to do. He never met a Pepsi, burger, pizza or piece of cheesecake he did not enjoy! And of all things, an Arby's sandwich would make him smile!!

Jerry was a sweet man who always had a smile and a compliment for everyone around him. His happy-go-lucky attitude and quick wit won him many friends. He never had a nasty word to say about anyone. That is perhaps one of Jerry's greatest attributes.

Jerry always said when he heard someone had passed onto their next "journey", that they were going with God to a "better place".

And so, surrounded by his family, on Sunday afternoon, April 7, 2024, Jerry, who was a devout Catholic, was chosen by God to peacefully go to his "better place".

The ones we love shine for us --

in the stars ,

in the glow of the moon,

in the sun each time it rises.

In loving memory of Jerry - son, brother, uncle and friend.
