Jeffrey (Jeff) T. Obourn, 65, of Greenwood Village, Colorado, peacefully passed the morning of Friday, March 31, 2023.
Jeff was born on January 6, 1958, in San Diego, California and 30 days later moved to Colorado where he would spend the majority of his life. He attended Littleton High School in Littleton, Colorado (1976) and then received his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University (1980.) Jeff moved back to Colorado in 1981 and became a Police Officer for the Lakewood Police Department. After a year serving as a Police Officer, he decided to pursue a career in the Oil and Gas industry.
In 1992 Jeff worked as a Senior Vice President of Operations at Tipperary Oil and Gas Corporation. With a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and no prior knowledge or expertise in Oil and Gas, he worked tirelessly and humbly to learn the ins and outs of the industry. He spent many long nights on the road understanding how to put oil and gas plays together and became a pro at understanding the most efficient ways to make a deal. In October 2005, Tipperary was sold and Jeff went on to manage his own oil and gas assets until his passing across numerous states including: Colorado, Wyoming and North Dakota.
On January 21, 1989, Jeff married Kimberly (Ricketts) Obourn. The ceremony took place at his childhood home in Greenwood Village, CO. During the time between having and raising a family, Jeff and his wife Kim bred labrador puppies together and sold the litter to folks across the Denver metro area who would then become close friends and acquaintances. Seven years later, Jeff purchased the house he and Kim were married in from his mother in 1996 and would go onto raise his own family there.
Jeff enjoyed the outdoors: hunting big game, fishing walleye, horseback riding and camping. He had a passion for landscaping and growing various vegetables and plants in the yard. He especially loved growing pumpkins in the fall and having neighbors and friends pick pumpkins from his pumpkin patch to take home and carve.
Jeff always put his family first in everything he did and was known to lend a helping hand to anyone he came across that needed it. Jeff will be remembered as a loving husband and father, supportive mentor and generous benefactor to family, friends and strangers.
Jeff is survived by his wife Kimberly (Kim) Obourn and three children: Thomas (Tom) Obourn; Abigail (Abbey) Obourn and Mary Margaret (Maggie) Obourn.
