Jeanne L. Eggleston

April 13, 1923 — September 25, 2014

Jeanne was born on April 13, 1923, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Mable and M.E Peterson. She attended Oak Park-River Forest High School where she met Joe Eggleston who she later wed. After graduation, Jeanne attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Jeanne and Joe married on December 6, 1943, before Joe's military training began which was followed by his deployment to North Africa and then Europe. While Joe was deployed, their first son, Peter M. Eggleston, was born on October 23, 1944. After the armistice, Joe returned to Oak Park and the following October, also on the 23rd, their second son, Thomas J. Eggleston was born. Jeanne and Joe raised their sons in the western suburbs of Chicago, primarily Glen Ellyn, until their divorce in 1970. Jeanne continued to live in Glen Ellyn until 1983 when she moved to the Denver, Colorado area to be near her son Peter where she lived and flourished in the retirement community of Heather Gardens until a stroke in 2006 required a greater level of care. Jeanne passed away on September 25, 2014. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Apryl Eggleston and Fawn Caldwell; two grandchildren, Matthew Eggleston and Lynn Wall of the Denver area and four great-grandchildren, Hunter and Wyatt Wall and Piper and Siena Eggleston. Also surviving are Jeanne's sister, Nancy Pearson, of Washburn, Wisconsin; her two children, Peggy Meyer and David Pearson; their spouses, Alex and Raelyn, and their six children and eight grandchildren. Her family asks that Jeanne be remembered by contributions to the P.E.O. Foundation, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa, 50312.
