Jean E. Hopkins

March 8, 1936 — October 27, 2014

Jean Hopkins, 78, of Westminster, Colorado passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2014 in hospice care. Left to celebrate her memory is her husband, Al; daughter, Beth; and brother, Charles Grimm. Jean was born to Elmer and Ethel (Betcher) Grimm on March 8, 1936 in Rochester, Minnesota, the youngest of two children. She graduated from Rochester High School and went on to graduate from Rochester Junior College. Jean then worked for the Mayo Clinic and finally the phone company before moving to Colorado with four friends. While in Denver, she worked for Mountain Bell. In 1959, Jean and Al met on a blind date and were married in August of 1961. After Al left Martin Aerospace, Jean convinced him to go to college. She helped support him through college, until he graduated in 1969. Then they moved to Omaha, Nebraska to take a job with Western Electric. While there, they became the happy parents of Beth and moved back to Colorado. Through the years, Jean was a stay at home mom, volunteering as a Brownie/Girl Scout leader, room mother and church youth leader. She then went back to work for a medical rental supply company for another 10 years, but her most rewarding occupation came in 1999, when she took care of the two young daughters of her God son and his wife. Jean was always active in bowling leagues, hitting the ski slopes, playing cards with friends and involved with Red Hats, but her pride was her faith in God where she attended BSF, a seven year Bible study and was part of Altar and Dorcus guild at Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Memorial Service will be Tuesday, Novemeber 4, 2014, 11:30 AM at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 10675 North Washington Street, Northglenn.
