Jason Robert Rattie

March 21, 1984 — May 18, 2025

Denver, Colorado

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jason Robert Rattie, age 41, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident while crossing a street in downtown Denver on May 18, 2025.

Jason was born in Walnut Creek, California in 1984. He spent his early years in the Bay Area before moving with his family to The Woodlands, Texas in 1995. There, he discovered a love for team sports and played on the high school lacrosse team. In 2001, the family relocated to Park City, Utah, where Jason graduated from Park City High School in 2002.

From an early age, Jason was a gifted and self-taught musician. By age 17 he had mastered Pro Tools and built a home recording studio from scratch, producing beats for local artists and developing into a talented DJ. Jason briefly attended the University of Utah before moving to Seattle to pursue his passion for music. Enrolling in the Art Institute of Seattle, he studied Audio Production, honing his skills in sound engineering and music creation. His creative journey took him to music scenes in Seattle, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Dallas and Denver, where he played guitar and produced for several bands.

Jason’s path was not without struggle. He battled substance abuse for many years. Despite the challenges, he never lost his passion or his compassion for helping others. Eventually, through determination and resilience, with help from many in the recovery and healing profession, and with music as his therapy, Jason overcame his addiction and rebuilt his life. He completed vocational school and became an EPA-certified HVAC technician, founding Anemoi, LLC, a business serving the greater Denver area.

Beyond his work and music, Jason dedicated himself to providing hope and support for others suffering from substance-abuse disorders. His empathy and commitment to giving back left a lasting impact on countless lives. Friends describe Jason as one of the most compassionate and caring people they’ve ever known - an individual who loved deeply, gave freely, and never stopped believing in redemption. He was a man of quiet spirituality, grounded in his belief in the power of second chances.

Jason is survived by his parents, his loving sister and brother-in-law, aunts and uncles (who never stopped believing in him), adoring nieces, cousins, and a vast circle of friends whose lives were brightened by his compassion, warmth, and creativity.

Jason, you blessed our lives with your spirit. You made us laugh, losing you makes us cry. “You’re in the arms of the angel – may you find some comfort here.” Thank you for the memories, “Dude.” We love you. We miss you. Rock on.

The family plans to hold a Celebration of the Life of Jason Rattie, later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations of any amount to The Hornbuckle Foundation hornbucklefoundation.org select “Donate’, then “Jason Rattie Hope Fund”. The Foundation’s Mission is to help people suffering from substance abuse disorder, focused in part on struggling musicians.
