Jan Marie Schlichting, 88 years old, of Littleton, CO, died on July 28, 2025.
She was born in Fort Dodge, IA in 1937 to Raymond and Lydia Dencklau. Jan was confirmed on May 28, 1950, at St. John's Lutheran Church. She attended Eagle Grove High School before studying nursing at the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA graduating in 1959. One of her favorite accomplishments was going to work at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital in San Diego and being part of the "Stork Club".
After meeting in San Diego, Jan and Roger Schlichting were married on March 7, 1965, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Vincent, Iowa. They were happily married for 60 years. Jan and Roger could not wait to start a family of their own and their children Ross and LaRae meant the world to them. When Ross and LaRae were young they loved going camping and seeing the sites in Colorado. Though she loved square dancing with her husband, crafting stained glass and advanced creative coloring, Jan's favorite role was a grandparent to her grandsons Jayden and Sage Marsik. Jan treasured her time with them.
Jan is remembered for her cooking, being a member of the adoptive mother's club, and her love for ceramics.
