Janice Elaine Reitzenstein, 87, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024. She was born on August 31, 1937, in Denver, Colorado to Joseph Green and Ione Ehler Green. Janice and her older brother Bob grew up on a farm in Brighton, Colorado where the family raised crops and ran a dairy operation. Janice graduated from Brighton High School and attended Colorado State University.
After college, Janice married Allen Reitzenstein and moved to Oregon where they had three children, Mark, Cindy and Linda. When they returned to Colorado, Janice and the kids lived next to her parents and brother on the farm where she was raised. The kids showed livestock and were involved in 4H where they were part of the Good Luck 4H Club. Janice worked as a Job Insurance Adjudicator for the State of Colorado for a number of years in Brighton and Denver until she retired.
Janice was active in the Eastlake Church and in addition to serving as the Treasurer for many years, she sang in the choir, played bells and was a diaconate. She was always there when there was a funeral to coordinate or when the church needed repairs and made the absolute best cinnamon rolls for church bake sales. She grew beautiful flowers in her garden, loved watching her grandkids show livestock and play sports and always enjoyed traveling to see her daughters. Janice found the positives in life, was known to joke with people and had a warm way of making those around her smile.
Janice is survived by her three children, Mark Reitzenstein and his wife Kaye of Kersey, Colorado, Cindy Anderson and her husband Scott of Chrisman, Illinois and Linda Reitzenstein and her significant other Mickey Davis of Miami, Florida. She has five grandchildren, including Kyle Anderson (Kayla) of Chrisman, Illinois, Shane Anderson (Marta) of St. Louis, Missouri and Buffalo, New York, Kyndal Reitzenstein of Kersey, Colorado, Chase Anderson of Chatham, Illinois, Austin Reitzenstein of Kersey, Colorado and Reese Anderson of Champaign/Urbana, Illinois. She also has one niece, Denise (Mike) Grisham of Van Vleck, TX and many cousins and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, Joseph and Ione Green and her brother, Robert Green.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 19th at 10:30 at the First Congregational Church of Eastlake with a lunch and a time to celebrate fond memories following the service. Graveside services will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado after lunch for those who wish to attend.
