Janet Allen Searl

March 10, 1942 — January 31, 2026

Arvada

Janet passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of curiosity, mentorship, and lifelong friendships. A graduate of the University of Nebraska and a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority, Janet dedicated her early career to shaping young minds as an elementary teacher in Omaha and Hartford. Her commitment to learning led her to earn a Master’s in Special Education from Southern Connecticut State College.

Janet’s professional journey was as diverse as her interests. She transitioned from the classroom to the corporate world, teaching in the Office Products Division of IBM in New York City. Later, she combined her love for discovery with her career as a travel agent in Walnut Creek CA and Boulder.

An avid reader and a world traveler, Janet’s life was defined by her "voracious" appetite for knowledge. Beyond her professional achievements, she was a cornerstone for her friends where her warmth and care created bonds that lasted a lifetime.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, J.T., her mother, Helen Allen, and her sister, Wendy Haylett. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Kent; her niece, Kimberly Shaw; and a loving circle of nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

A celebration of life is planned for later this year. Donations in her memory can be directed to Tru Community Hospice Care, Lafayette, Colorado.
