Jane Marie Meisner

February 2, 1942 — October 22, 2024

Aurora

Jane Marie Meisner of Aurora, CO passed away on October 22, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Her adult life experiences could be summarized as featuring a true love story with her husband Henry (Hank), whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary a mere 40 days before her passing.

In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by her son Mark Meisner and his ex-spouse Stephanie Meisner and their children (Catherine, Taylor, Loghan & Madelyn) and her daughter Sandy Gevero and her husband Arnold. Jane Marie is also survived by her brother Thomas McAuliffe and his wife Heather and their children (Tom, Heather Marie & Kelly) and her sister Marjorie Maloney and her husband Barry and their children (Jennifer, Brian & Kevin).

Jane’s childhood until college was spent in the NYC suburb of Teaneck, NJ as the oldest of three children. Her Father Tom was an accountant and her Mother Jane was a school teacher and home maker. Jane Marie was the perfect child, obedient, nice to all and very smart, which her siblings really did not appreciate in comparison.

Jane first met Hank in 1961 on a bus ride to work. Hank asked her out a few times with no success but by the third request she finally said yes. They had an amazing summer together but there was only one problem; Jane Marie was going back to college and Hank was going to Germany to serve in the Army. After a long-distance relationship that lasted a few years upon Hank’s return from Germany, Jane Marie asked him to her College senior dance and the rest is history.

Jane Marie graduated from Notre Dame College in 1963 and began her career as a dreaded IRS tax auditor until 1965. Thereafter, she used her extensive inside the IRS experience to start her own very successful tax preparation practice for more than 30 years until retiring in 1995.

In 1975, Jane and Hank moved to Colts Neck, NJ to raise their family and they spent most weekends either at horse shows or at soccer/baseball fields cheering on their children Mark & Sandy.

When the nest became empty, they retired to Wrightsville Beach, NC In 1994, where they golfed several days a week. They never were really good golfers but they sure did have a grand time together trying to become better.

In 2016, Jane and Hank decided to move from NC to the suburbs of Denver CO so that they could continue to spend time with their son Mark and their granddaughters who had recently moved there. Their lives became enjoying attending every sporting event or school function of their granddaughters.

In addition to her strongest passion - Hank, Jane had a strong passion for six things: Faith, Family, Taxes, Horses, Jack Russell Terriers, and oh yeah – Chocolates but necessarily in that order. She was a devout Catholic her entire life and went to church with her family every week. Jane especially loved Sunday night dinners almost weekly with the entire family. Her pioneering home tax preparation services in 1965 were generations ahead of today’s post-Covid residential work- places. Jane Marie’s love of horses was the reason they selected Colts Neck, a ubiquitous horse lover’s community to live. Their purchase of a large residential farm for their children to experience ponies, horses, Jack Russel Terriers and an awesome pool were also personal joys.

A Funeral Mass will be held for Jane Marie’s at St. Francis Cabrini in Littleton, CO at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
