Born in La Grande, Oregon, Jim spent much of his young life moving back and forth from Oregon and Utah, always helping his family in their farming endeavors. After the completion of his mission, he moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University. While there, he met and dated and eventually married his sweetheart, Reneé Dewey, in March of 1964. They had three children: James S Richeson II, Jeffrey Richeson, and Darcy (Richeson) Senador.

He worked most of his life in food service, as a food service director and in vending, retiring from Lane Change Vending in 2011.

Jim Richeson never met a stranger. He was known for his great hugs and his reminder all the time that “I love you today.” He had great love for his fellow men, always creating a haven for others in his life and often even in his home.
