Jim passed away on May 2, 2023. His life was full of love, adventure, family, and friends. Jim was born on April 11, 1948, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He grew up on Ottertail Lake with his mother, father, and three brothers. Jim was 12 years old when he went on a float plane ride at the Lake, and his lifelong love of flying began. Jim went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Minnesota. There, he met Evy, his wife of 53 years, and they were married on August 9, 1969. He went on to join the Air Force and was stationed at Williams Air Force base for pilot training. He later became an instructor on the T-38 trainer jet and the F-5 fighter jet. Their son, Ryan Patrick, was born on January 23, 1977. Jim was honorably discharged from the Air Force and his family moved to Colorado in 1978. Their daughter, Tayler Min Dae, arrived from Seoul in April of 1982. Jim flew commercial airliners for Continental Airlines for 32 years, including the DC-9, DC-10, B-727, B-737, and B-777, until his retirement in 2010.
Jim's golden years were spent traveling around the world, improving his golf game, building and flying his Vans RV-8 experimental aircraft, building his RV-10, and relishing in big milestones and small moments with his family and friends. He is survived and adored by his wife, Evy, their son, Ryan Moore and his partner, Mary Gilbert, their daughter, Tayler Moore Mathis and her husband, Drew, and their three granddaughters, Sophie Moore, Sasha Moore, and River Mathis. He is also survived by his brothers, Steve, Vince, and Dan Moore, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry "Hank" and Muriel Moore.
