James Lynn McDougald

James Lynn McDougald, 72, of Centennial, CO, passed away on October 26, 2025. James was born November 16, 1952 in Gilmer, TX to Charles and Gloria June McDougald. After graduating from Mineola High School, he went on to Baylor University, earning a bachelor’s in economics. He started his career in Dallas with Arthur Andersen where he met some of his closest friends. He then went on to Media News Group where he worked until he retired.

James loved spending time with his family and friends. During his working years, he made coaching his kids in sports and attending their games and events a priority. During retirement he lived by the motto “To be interesting, be interested”. He loved tending to his garden, reading classical literature with his men’s book club, hiking, biking and working out. He also began seriously studying the Spanish language, going so far as to spending a week at an immersion school in Ubeda, Spain. Each fall, James and Chris would travel with friends to a new region to explore the culture, hike and drink wine. He also made time to keep up with friends through morning coffee, afternoon happy hours and frequent phone calls to those who lived out of town.

James is survived and missed by his wife of 41 years, Chris and his children Lara, (Patrick Foley) and Claire. He was preceded in death by his parents Gloria June and Charles.

A celebration of life will be held November 14th at 1 PM at Horan and McConaty, at 5303 E County Line Road, Centennial, CO with Robert Pote officiating.
