James “Jim” Alvin Karr passed away surrounded by love and family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Jean Baird, and his father, Gale Dean Karr.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Sheryl Karr, with whom he shared more than 57 years of marriage, a partnership built on love, devotion, and family. He was a proud and loving father to his four children: David Karr; Greg Karr and Kory; Kim and Clem Snide; and Terry and Paul Adams.Jim was a cherished grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to 5 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. Jim is also survived by his siblings: Kimberly Karr and Mark, and Rodney Karr and Donna Karr.
Jim honorably served 22 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (E7). His service reflected a deep commitment to duty, leadership, and love of country. “Semper Fidelis” — Always Faithful.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his faithful service to his country, and his steadfast faith in Christ. His legacy lives on through the many generations he leaves behind.
A man of strong Christian faith, Jim lived his life guided by his love for God and devotion to his family. He took comfort in his faith and leaves behind the assurance that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2026, 11am, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood. Burial will follow at 12:30pm Staging Area White, Fort Logan National Cemetery.
