James Homer Anderson

Homer Anderson died September 24, 2026 in his home after a long battle with cancer. Homer was 92 years old. He was born September 7, 1934 in Westville, Oklahoma.

Homer's family moved to the Arvada area in 1936 and farmed various properties. Homer attended Lawrence Elementary School and Arvada High School where he lettered in wrestling. He graduated in 1952.

In 1952, Homer met the love of his life, Lorraine Anderson (nee Dreith). They were married October 18th, 1953. Homer passed just 3 weeks shy of their 73rd wedding anniversary.

Homer was drafted into the US Army in 1957, served active duty for 2 years and active reserve status for another 6 years.

After his discharge, Homer and Lorraine started building their beautiful family. Daughter Kristi was born in 1960, son Kirk in 1962, son Keith in 1964, and daughter Karol in 1968.

Homer's entrepreneurial spirit inspired him to start Anderson Tire Service in 1973. The family business was a big part of life for everyone in the family and was very successful due to the hard work and dedication of all. Homer and Lorraine sold the business and retired in 1996.

During his life, Homer was a hard worker and volunteer for the community. He was a volunteer fireman in Arvada for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Captain at Station #1. He was a member of the Arvada Masonic Lodge, a charter member of the Arvada Elks Lodge, a member of American Legion Post #161, and a past president of the Arvada Kiwanis Club. He was a past president of the Colorado Tire Dealers Association. He was a founding member and past president of Ginny's Kids, International, a charity dedicated to bringing lasting joyful memories to families of seriously ill children.

Homer is survived by his wife, Lorraine, his 4 children, Kristi, Kirk, Keith (Cathy) and Karol (Russel). 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Burial of Homer's ashes will be October 15th at the Arvada Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday October 19th at 10am at the Arvada Elks Lodge at 5700 Yukon St. in Arvada with a reception to follow.
