James G. Fletcher

James G. Fletcher, 54, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with Myotonic Dystrophy. He was born on September 20, 1971.

James dedicated his career to caring for others as a medical assistant, a profession of which he was very proud. He found purpose in helping people and took great pride in the skill and dedication he brought to his work. He made a meaningful impact on those he cared for.

James was preceded in death by his father, Gary Fletcher; his mother, Anne Fletcher; and his twin brother, Jeffrey Fletcher.

For over 30 years, James lived with Myotonic Dystrophy, a progressive disease that first took his strength, then his mobility, and ultimately claimed his life. Despite the many challenges he faced, James remained fiercely independent until the very end. He met each obstacle with determination, dignity, and resilience, refusing to let his illness define the remarkable person he was.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Horan & McConaty Memorial Gardens, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor James's life, share memories, and celebrate the love, and strength that he shared with those around him.

Though his time with us was far too short, James will be remembered for his gentle heart, his unwavering independence, his pride in serving others through his medical career, and the courage he demonstrated throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James's honor to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation or to the Smoky Hill Rotary Club Foundation.
