James (Jim) Dassinger, age 76, peacefully passed away in Aurora, CO at home surrounded by his loved ones on April 20, 2024, following a battle with colon cancer.
Born on July 27, 1947, in Dickinson, North Dakota, he moved to Billings in 1955 with his parents Anton and Helen Dassinger. Jim served in the Army 173rd division, airborne, in the Vietnam War from 1967-1968.
Jim had a natural talent for finance and dedicated much of his post-military career to various financial endeavors. He married Bonnie Bradley in 1976, and together, they ventured into entrepreneurship, owning several businesses, including bars, dinner clubs, a waterslide, and ultimately founding B&B Pharmaceuticals, after relocating to Denver, Colorado in 1990.
A man of order and attention to detail, Jim was known for his meticulous approach to business, always focusing on the bottom line. He had a passion for gambling, with keno being his favored game, and his perseverance often led to success.
In his later years, Jim found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and being a grandfather. Though not one to express his emotions openly, he demonstrated his love through his unwavering presence and support.
James is survived by his children: Cindy Dassinger- (Christos) Vasilas and Jason (Jennifer) Dassinger of Colorado; grandchildren, Kayna, Aubree, Lilyana, and Bradley (Jason & Jennifer’s children); Eviana, Melina, and Evander (Cindy & Christos’ children). He is also survived by siblings: Janice Jacobsen of MT, Donnie Dassinger of WA, Renae Schaefer of WY, Dean Dassinger, and Sandra Cleveland, of MT.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Bradley Dassinger; parents, Anton and Helen; and sister, Mary Lou Dassinger.
A Celebration of Life for James Dassinger will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club, located at 23155 E. Heritage Pkwy, Aurora, CO 80016, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer living plants, which will be planted in Jim’s honor.
