James Ludger Daly

James ‘Jim’ Ludger Daly, 99, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away February 6, 2019. James was born March 26, 1919 in Onaway, Michigan to James Joseph and Margaret Theresa Daly.

Jim was the oldest of 8 brothers and 3 sisters. He enlisted in the Navy and earned his wings in 1944 and served as a bomber pilot in World War 2, assigned to VP-142, piloting a PV2 Harpoon. He saw combat on Midway and Tinian. He was called back to military service in 1950 for the Korean war and was stationed at Iwakuni air base in Japan, assigned to VP-772, piloting a PB4Y2 bomber. After 2 tours, he was honorably discharged at the rank of Lieutenant and began his business career and family.

Jim graduated from the University of Southern California with a business degree in 1948. While attending school, he met Bette Louise (Smith), and they were married on May 28th, 1950. While raising their 3 sons, Jim had a very successful career building and growing technology companies. In their later years Bette and Jim enjoyed spending time with their growing family in Naples, Florida and Waupaca, Wisconsin. Together, they enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and their glass of wine every day at 4 O'clock.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Bette Louise (Smith) Daly; Sons, Scott (Kathy), Sean (Christie), and Quinn (Jo-Lynn). He has 7 Grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Brendan, Megan, Sam, Amanda and Max and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Emma and Charlotte. He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 5-8pm, at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, Colorado 80227.

A Catholic Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, February 15, 2019, also at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel in Lakewood. The Mass will be followed by a Military Service at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 3:15pm with Navy Honors, recognizing the service he gave to our Country.

There is a Reception immediately following the military service.
