Jackie Diane Kennedy of Littleton, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2023, while vacationing in Spain. Jackie was born April 29, 1948, in Denver, Colorado to Olen Dean Green and Viola Roybal. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 48 years, Frank Rees Kennedy. She is survived by her daughters: Shannon (Bryan) Elder of Littleton, Colorado and Denise (Frank) Brame of University Park, Texas; her grandchildren: Benjamin, Izabelle, and Elliana Elder of Littleton, Colorado and Daniel, Charles, and Michael Brame of University Park, Texas; her sister Kathleen (Ted) Herivel, of Denver, Colorado; three nieces and nephews; and more friends than she could count.
Jackie spent over 30 years as a Commercial Lines Insurance Underwriter. She started her career at Hawkeye Insurance in the 1970s as one of their first female underwriters and was the first female underwriter to cover the Wyoming territory. She took great pride in mentoring her younger colleagues, particularly young women. In the final year of her career, she received the “Sales Circle of Excellence Award”, which honored the top five percent of Chubb Insurance’s underwriting staff. She opened the doors for many with her long-time industry relationships. Many of her clients and co-workers still call her a friend today. Her former manager shared, “Jackie was the best underwriter I ever worked with. Her ability to write a deal and follow the rules was impeccable. I learned so much from her in so many ways. I still have pictures from her retirement lunch on my desk and show them often.”
She retired from Chubb Insurance in 2014 to spend more time with her family. In her retirement she loved playing golf (she was in three different leagues) and pinochle, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. She loved her annual trip to Moab with her “golf girls.” Her travels took her to five continents and included very special trips with her grandchildren to Iceland, England, and Morocco.
Jackie was a shining light and lived each moment of her life to the fullest. Her friends say it best, “Jackie was one in a million, and that’s not an exaggeration. She was classy and confident.”…..“She entered a room with a smile and a grace like no other.” She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Jackie had a special place in her heart for children affected by poverty and violence. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you donate in her name to Exile International, a non-profit that assists rescued child soldiers and children orphaned by war. https://exileinternational.org/give/#honor
