Jack Lutz

May 10, 1936 — January 30, 2023

Denver, Colorado

Jack Lutz, 86, entered eternal life January 30, 2023. He was born May 10, 1936, in Quincy, Illinois to Harry and Anne (McDonnell) Lutz. Jack was a devoted Catholic and proud member of St. Thomas More parish.

Jack grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri, and attended the School of Mines, Rolla, Missouri (now called Missouri University of Science and Technology).  He majored in Mining Engineering and joined his beloved fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha.

Jack loved engineering and earned his Professional Engineer license from the state of Colorado. His work as a Petroleum Engineer allowed him to foster his adventurous spirit by working and visiting many countries around the world. He particularly enjoyed working in Libya.

Jack met his wife of 30 years, Pam (Stoll) in St. Louis. They later moved to Powell, Wyoming where two of his daughters were born, Amy and Jenny. They were relocated to Denver, Colorado where their third daughter, Natalie was born. They fell in love with Denver and stayed.

Jack enjoyed everything that the western part of the United States had to offer, he frequently visited the National Parks. He found tremendous joy in nature, and loved collecting rocks, gemstones, and fossils. He enjoyed educating everyone on their wonder and starting rock collections for family and friends.

Jack's greatest joy was his girls. He enjoyed being involved in their various sporting activities and assisting with their homework. He was very sentimental and kept all the pictures, cards, and little drawings that his girls had given him over the years. Jack loved the Denver Broncos and watched every game with his daughters. He was also a dedicated fan of the Colorado Rockies and watched every game despite there being so many more losses than wins.

Jack really enjoyed spoiling his four grandkids. He was very active in their lives attending church functions, school programs, and loved taking them for ice cream or various other sweets.

Jack was a generous man who supported many organizations. The ones closest to his heart were the Veterans and Native American Schools.

Jack is preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, in-laws, and brothers-in-laws. He is survived by his three daughters, Amy (Dan) Heischman, Jenny (Tony) Walt, and Natalie Lutz and his four grandchildren - Calvin Heischman, Haley Heischman, Ella Heischman, and Landyn Walt. He is also survived by his sister Suzanne Gill, nephews Michael Gill and Brian Gill, niece Molly Kelly, and sister-in-law Lee Robben.
