Ivy Cheryl Gillespie, a vibrant soul who radiated joy and love for life, passed away on September 16, 2024, in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Born on January 11, 1952, in Oakland, California, Ivy brought a spark to everyone she encountered, embodying an adventurous spirit and a genuine enthusiasm for the world around her.
Ivy's passions were as colorful as her personality. She found immense joy in the thrill of gambling, cherished her loyalty to the Colorado Rockies, and was a fan of music, particularly admiring Rick Springfield and the boy band BTS. These interests painted a picture of a woman who understood the value of celebrating life’s simple pleasures and the connections through shared experiences.
Ivy is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolf Mejia and Frances Isabel Abeyta. She is survived by her husband, Eugene J. Gillespie; step children, James A. Gillespie and his wife Carrie, Adam J. Gillespie and his wife Jolynn and Ruben Bueno; grandchildren, Wynter Gillespie, Abagail Gillespie, Sara Gillespie, Tyler Conley, Levi Riffee, Cody Riffee and Dakota Riffee and great grandson, Zephyr Moore. She is also survived by her sister, Iris Angel and Nieces, Lisa Angel Schable and her husband Jeff and great nieces, Joell P. Angel and Jenna L. Benjamin.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 28, 2024, at 3:00pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood. A reception will immediately follow also at Horan & McConaty.
