Irene Buben

Irene Buben, beloved wife and mother passed away peacefully on February 12th, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born on December 3rd, 1929, in Jermyn, Pennsylvania, to John Onufrak and Anne Strosky.

Irene was married to the love of her life, the Very Reverend Michael J. Buben, on September 14th, 1952, at Saint Michael Orthodox Church in Jermyn, Pennsylvania. Michael served as an Arch Priest in several churches across the country, including Saint Michaels in Geneva, New York, Saint George in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Saint Philips in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, Saint George in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and Saint Elias in Arvada, Colorado. He preceded her in death on February 1st, 1994.

Together, Irene and Michael had three children, including their son Mark Michael Buben, who passed away on September 6th, 2022. Irene is survived by her two daughters, Karen Marie Buben and Joanne (Joji) Finney, and her son-in-law, Dale Finney, husband of Joanne.

Irene was a devoted mother and took great pride in her family. She was a kind and caring person who always put others before herself.

In addition to being a devoted mother, Irene was also dedicated to the members of the churches where her husband served. She loved to cook and entertain, and was often found preparing meals and hosting gatherings for the parishioners. She had a special talent for making everyone feel welcome and at home, and her warmth and hospitality were a reflection of her deep faith and love for others.

Irene's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire and guide those whose lives she touched.

Irene will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will always remember her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, Irene Buben.
