Howard Doughman

Howard Lee Doughman, 91, of Brighton, Colorado passed away at his home Thursday August 19th, 2021. He was born March 11th, 1930, to Harry and Mary (Sauer) Doughman in Denver, Co.

Howard graduated from Platteville High School in 1948 and was the last surviving member of that class. He studied the Electrical trade during a brief stint in the U.S. Navy, served an apprenticeship and spent most of his life as a Journeyman Electrician working out of IBEW Local 68. He helped in the construction of the Eisenhower tunnel, the Eagle’s Nest restaurant in Vail and the Nuclear power plant in Platteville.

Howard loved the outdoors and had a strong passion for all types of hunting, particularly elk. He attained the NRA classification of “Expert” for his pistol marksmanship. He also enjoyed fishing. After retirement he attained his pilot’s license and loved to fly his Cherokee Piper Archer. He also participated in the building of a Super Cub.

He and his beloved Irene became converts to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife Irene (Neill) Doughman, his sister, Lois Sandstedt, his daughter Elaine Shelley and his grandson Dallis Stubbs.

He is survived by his brother, Robert; daughter Linda (Dennis) Barrett; son Dale (Janice) Doughman; son-in-law Craig Shelley; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, September 13, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 100 Malley Drive, Northglenn, CO 80233.

A viewing will be held at the Church prior to the service from 9:00-9:45am.

Burial will follow on Monday at 2:00pm, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO. Please gather at Staging area ‘A’ by 1:45pm.
