Born on the family farm in Alabama on May 15, 1944, Helen Marvia Robbins was the first daughter of James and Bonnie Johnson.
Marvia and her parents moved to Indianapolis when she was in grade school. She grew up there and graduated high school with a business certification in 1962. In 1963, she took a trip to Jacksonville, Florida with girlfriends and that trip was where she met her soon to be husband, Gary Paul Robbins. They married January 18, 1964. Over the span of their 59 year love affair, Gary and Marvia had four children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Throughout her life, Marvia wore many hats and served in many capacities. She was first a wife, then a mother, a friend, a secretary, a caregiver, a prayer warrior, a great chef and baker, and an accomplished and artistic quilt maker. Marvia’s cup was always half full and she saw the beauty in life. She could find joy in both the big and the small and she lived her life as an example and inspiration to those who knew her.
Her life was defined by her faith in God and we know that she is at peace and rejoicing in the presence of her Heavenly Father.
