Harry L. Truesdale

December 8, 1935 — December 6, 2014

Harry L. Truesdale, 78, of Centennial, passed away December 6, 2014. Harry & Marilyn, or Easy & Jiggy in the early days, are kind, generous, faith filled and loving. They worry endlessly about one another, as they were married for 57 incredible years. Through that marriage they brought forth 3 beautiful daughters, a handsome son, 8 amazing grandsons and a great-grandson, and 1 rare and incredible granddaughter. All of them here to continue his legacy. The legacy that we are left to continue means that there will be more stories, history and laughter in this world. Harry had a tough and grumpy shell sometimes, but inside, a gentle and kind hearted soul. As his family knows, Harry showed his love through actions far more than words. Fixing their cars, helping them move, baking his famous oatmeal cookies. When he knew you had a particular interest in something, he was sure to pass along every newspaper article or magazine that was related. He shared in the joys of his family, and learned right along with them. The parish of St. Thomas More kept him active and social. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, and knowing Harry, his favorite part must have been the Tootsie Rolls. Daily mass and his coffee buddies were his favorite pastime. As the largest blood donor at St. Thomas More, he was proud to have donated over 30 gallons of blood. There were cookies involved in that activity, and I believe played a part in his continuous donations. The Castlewood library was his home away from home. The small things in life mattered. A special drawing by a grandchild, a funny joke, and his annual birthday prune cake. Throughout his life, Harry made sure that his family received the small things too. When he was in Vietnam he mailed voice recordings of himself, reading stories to his children, and even included his oatmeal cookies in the package. Little things to let you know he was still around. Harry enjoyed life moment by moment. In the truest sense, it was a journey and not a destination. As we know, Harry's memory will live on. In our family of today, and our families of tomorrow. So have that extra whip cream on your pumpkin pie. Hug your loved ones. Our Dad's wish was to have a farewell exactly as you see him today: Honored by the country he loves, Surrounded by the family he loves, And in the presence of our Lord, whom he loves. God Speed, we love you Harry.
