Harrison Eugene “Gene” Parker, Jr., age 86, passed away in his home in Denver Colorado on March 4, 2024. He was born on July 24, 1937, to Harrison Eugene and Rayma Christine Parker. He lived, worked, and raised his family in the Denver area. In 1954 he joined the Coast Guard. He was then, deployed to Korea and Japan with the Navy. When he returned home, he met and married Phyllis Elaine Zambo. They had two children, Joel Scott and Gena Elaine. Gene had a passion for cars and knew everything about them. He was a member of a stock car racing team from 1967-1974, racing all over Colorado and loving it. Gene was a Lifetime Member of the American Legion Post 1 in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his brother Bill (Pat) Parker, his sister Betty Thompson, his son Joel “Scott” (Gina) Parker, his grandson, Andrew Parker (Megan) Mantz, a great-grandson, Palmer Gene Mantz, and his niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, and his daughter Gena Elaine (Bill) Mantz. Final respects can be paid during his burial service at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd. Denver, CO 80235 on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. Following the burial, please join the family for a Celebration of Life reception. The reception will be held at the American Legion Post 1, 5400 E. Yale Ave., Denver, Co., beginning at 3:30pm. Those wishing to honor Gene’s life, can donate in his name to the American Legion Post 1.
