Harriett Krieger

b. July 20, 1924

Littleton, Colorado

Harriett E. Krieger, 97, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022.  Harriett was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 20, 1924.  She is the daughter of Joseph R. and Harriett J. Choun and grew up in Denver, Colorado with two brothers and a sister.

Harriett worked her way through college, graduating from Denver University School of Business. She married her high school sweetheart, Clarence J. Krieger, on August 26, 1945 and began married life in Oakland, California where Clarence was stationed in the Navy. When they returned to Denver, they formed the Krieger Construction Company where Harriett was a vital partner in managing the business and accounting side of the company for four decades.

Harriett was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a doer with unbelievable energy. She and Clarence were active in their church and community. Harriett loved cooking and baking for family gatherings and their pot luck group. When offering food or drink, she wouldn’t take no for an answer. She loved writing poetry and her cards and letters often included a personal poem. Harriett played bridge and golf well into her 90’s. In her younger days she enjoyed the outdoor life: snowmobiling, trail bike riding, camping and fishing. She could be as rugged as necessary. Upon retirement, she and Clarence traveled the world extensively and toured the U.S. in their mobile home with a group called the Roamers.

Harriett is preceded in death by her husband Clarence; her parents; her brothers Joseph and Frank; and sister Frances.  She is survived by her children Carol MacFee (Raymond), and Michael Krieger (Jane); grandchildren, Michelle Gooden (Evan), Kelly Harrison (Daniel), Grant Krieger (Melissa), Bradley Krieger, Ross Krieger, Jack Krieger (Megan); and great-grandchildren Abigail, Blake & Aubriana Gooden, Cole & Kaylee Harrison, Rawlins & Harper Krieger; step grandchildren Sarah Brooks; Benjamin Tosone (Marisa); and step great-grandchildren Peter, Patrick and Katherine Brooks.

Harriett will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery next to Clarence. The family will host a celebration of life at a future date.
