With deep love, we announce the passing of Gregory Lee Rowe, Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army, who died on September 28, 2026 after a prolonged illness.
Greg was a devoted husband to Sandy, his wife of nearly 54 years; loving father to Beth, Josh, Ben, and Meghan; father-in-law to Lora, Allison, and Neil; and cherished grandfather and Pahkah to Carter, Alex, Braedan, Everly, Billy, and Zoe. Greg was born October 2, 1950 in Greenfield, Massachusetts to Mortimer and Maria Rowe and is survived by three brothers, Bob, Doug, and Matt. He grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before moving with Sandy to Colorado to start a career and family. Greg lived happily in Colorado for 49 years where he worked and raised his family. He honorably served in the US Army for 20 years, and was a career human resource professional with the University of Colorado for 28 years
Greg’s passion and his joy were his family. To his family, Greg embodied a constant, calming, and quiet presence filled with endless love. He was ever present to lend a hand, an ear, or a hug whenever needed.
He gave much of himself to others and asked little in return. He was generous, kind, funny, and a shining example of a loving parent. Greg nourished the creativity and talents of his kids, tirelessly supporting every activity and passion. While quiet, gentle, and never the most outspoken, the love he showed his family was loud, fierce, and filled their hearts to bursting.
The little things about Greg are what his family will cherish the most. Greg made really good pancakes, called picadillo his specialty, and constantly overheated his food in the microwave. He twirled his mustache while he watched TV and never missed the news. He had a remarkable ability to cat nap anywhere. He woke his children up with songs about Florida. He taught them to throw a ball, to ski, to drive. He had his “colonel voice” but was always patient, even in the most trying of times, and always there to pick his kids back up when they fell. He liked the color blue and loved Jimi Hendrix music. He drove his kids everywhere but rode the bus to work, often while working a sudoku puzzle. He was always there for Sandy and his kids, without fail. He gave really, really great hugs.
Greg loved us deeply, and we, him.
