Gregory Edwin Jordahl

Gregory Edwin Jordahl, age 63, passed into the arms of his Savior with his loving family at his side on April 5, 2025, after a long and valiant fight against pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer. 

Greg was born January 16, 1962, the youngest child of Stanley and Joyce (Rosengren) Jordahl. He spent his childhood in Richfield, MN, graduating high school in 1980. He went on to attend Normandale Community College followed by the University of Minnesota where he graduated in 1986 with a degree in Aviation Business. Following his love of flying, he joined the U.S. Navy, entering AOCS at Pensacola, FL in May 1986. Greg excelled in the Navy, graduating first in his class in AOCS and in every training squadron he served with. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander before retirement.

Marrying the love of his life, Amy, on July 18, 1987, the couple started the adventure that was their lives together. In true military fashion they moved frequently, relying on each other during every time of change. During active-duty, Greg and Amy spent time in Pensacola, FL, Corpus Christi, TX, and Jacksonville, FL before they welcomed their first child Katie in1988. After moving to a new base in Brunswick, ME, Danielle joined the family in 1990. Their final active-duty relocation brought them to Whidbey Island, WA where Ellen completed the family in 1995.

After leaving active duty, the family moved on to Reynoldsburg, OH where Greg was employed with Executive Jet until he got the call for his dream job: flying for Northwest Airlines! This relocated the family one final time in 2001 back to where it all started - Minnesota. Here Greg and Amy lived out on the lake and watched their girls grow up and move west one by one. They stayed in that house on the lake until Greg's illness encouraged a move to the Denver, CO area in 2022 for care from a top neuroendocrine team. Admittedly, having the grandkids so close was a bonus.

As a person, Greg was one of a kind! He was brave, strong, brilliant, incredibly loving, and could fix any item you brought him. A man of faith and an American hero who loved God, his family, his country. He loved his friends and family with wholehearted ferocity. His wife, girls, and grandchildren were his priority and his joy. 

Greg is survived by his wife of 38 years, Amy; their daughters Katie (Nathan) Jastram of Colorado, Danielle (Zachary Bryant) Jordahl of Washington and Ellen (Jeffrey Bateman) Jordahl of Alaska; his self-described bonus daughters: Alyssa (Dalton)Miller and Gesa Wilden; and grandchildren Tessa and Alexander Jastram. He is also survived by a brother Stan (Betsy) Jordahl, a sister Leah (George) Shetka, mother-in-law Carole Bakken, brother-in-law Don (Ultra) Bakken, sister-in-law Ruth (John Conley) Bakken, nieces, nephews and friends. 

Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, stepfather, an infant brother and sister Valerie.

Funeral services are June 2, 2025, at 12:30pm at Horan and McConaty, with military commitment ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:15pm. A reception will follow at 4:30pm at the Highlands Ranch Senior Center.
