Gregory Paul Francis

Greg(ory) Paul Francis passed away at home on the evening of July 26, 2026, surrounded by those closest to him. After a short but courageous battle, Greg is now at peace.

The world became a brighter place on August 4, 1976, when Greg was born to his parents, Jim and Melodie, and welcomed home by big brother Jared. When little brother Mike joined the crew 19 months later, Jim and Melodie knew they had their hands full!

As a child, Greg could be found either at the pool or hitting the links with his dad and brothers. His imagination meant that traditional childhood games took on more creative forms, and often ended in injuries to anyone involved! He became a UNC Bear in 1994, where he learned invaluable life lessons and made even more invaluable lifelong friends.

Lisa Jo Sweet became Lisa Jo Francis on December 13, 2003; and in what cannot exactly be described as a “normal” birth, Avery and Zoey completed the family in 2010. The foursome could be found exploring anywhere tropical, supporting each other’s hobbies, and more often than not, huddled up under blankets at whatever away game Greg’s team was conquering that week. Greg’s humor and legacy of caring can clearly be seen in everything his daughters do.

While Greg’s day job was as a Lead Data Analyst at S&P Global, Greg’s real job was on the gridiron, where he coached with passion and mentored with compassion. 26 years' worth of high school football seasons were positively impacted by Coach Francis’s presence on the sideline.

Greg made memories everywhere he went and with everyone he met, and while cancer took Greg from us, it cannot touch the memories he leaves behind.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Melodie Francis.

Greg is survived by his wife, Lisa Francis; his daughters, Avery Francis and Zoey Francis; his father, Jim Francis; his brothers, Jared (Laurie) Francis and Mike (Jessie) Francis; his niece, Addison Francis; and his nephew, Luke Francis.

Celebration of Life at 12pm Wed. Aug. 5, 2026 at Flatirons Community Church, 355 W. South Boulder Rd., Lafayette, CO 80026.

A reception will follow immediately at the church. At Greg’s request, please join us in wearing your favorite sports team’s attire instead of traditional black.
