Glen Leyshon

December 19, 1933 — May 19, 2023

Glen A. Leyshon, passed away peacefully Friday May 19 in Denver, surrounded by family. He was 89. Glen was born December 19,1933, on the ranch south of Bayfield, Colorado He was the eighth child of Cecile Fae Snyder and Evean Leyshon.

In 1943, after the death of his father, the family reluctantly sold the ranch and moved into Durango. Shortly after moving Glen was hired to work for a bakery, he would go in early in the morning to fry doughnuts, then go to school and would return after school to wash pots and clean. However, Glen loved the farm and ranch life and vowed that someday he would return to it.  At 17, Glen joined the Navy and served honorably during the Korean War. In 1954, while working at the roller skating rink, Glen met the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” Warner. They were married January 14, 1955 and would spend the next 65 years happily together until Peggy’s passing in 2020. They were both devoted to raising their 3 children, James, Marty, and Daniel. In 1961, Glen was again forced to move even farther away from the farm life he craved when he moved to Denver in order to support his family, yet again he pledged that he would return. After 30 years working for the Post Office Glen retired and was finally able to return to life he dreamed of in 1989. Glen raised and sold hay and kept a small herd of cattle with his brother until his health began to fail him in 2010.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Leslie, Henry, and Vernon and 5 sisters Ida, Mary, Ruth, Ethel and Cecile.

Glen is survived by his sister Pearl, his 3 children, and their spouses Judy (James), Myles (Marty), Maria (Daniel), 7 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.

A graveside service is scheduled for Glen and his wife Peggy in Ignacio, Colorado. It will be at 10:00 am in the Ignacio East Cemetery, on June 11, 2023.

A luncheon will follow at Cornerstone Ridge Events, 39267 Hwy 160, Bayfield, CO.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Glen and Peggy’s lives.
