Gladys Raymond (Scharrel) was born July 4, 1926 in Lodgepole Nebraska. After graduating from Lodgepole High School, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to pursue Nursing School. Gladys eventually moved to Denver Colorado where she was married and had 2 children, Steven and Stephanie. Gladys remained in Denver and surrounding suburbs raising her children. She worked for Kodak and Gates Rubber Company before starting her long-term career at Olinger Mortuary. Gladys retired from Olinger Mortuary on May 5, 2005, and immediately began her most fulfilling career as a full time Grandmother. In addition to providing day care for her grandchildren, she passed on her life experiences and helped them grow into the fine people they are. Gladys enjoyed hobbies such as bird watching, being outside, shopping at Goodwill and the former Janet Lee used clothing store. She loved going to casinos to do some light gambling and taking in the casino lights and sounds. Gladys was a fantastic people watcher and always had a good story to tell. Those who knew Gladys could tell you just how feisty she could be. She always knew how to make people laugh! Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and seven of her sisters. Survivors include her sister LaDean Bailey and brother Doyle Scharrel; Children: Son Steven Raymond, Daughter Stephanie Augustine; Grandchildren: Matthew Raymond, Cody Augustine, Andrew Augustine and Landon Asher; Great Grandchildren: Andrew Raymond and Landon Raymond. Gladys celebrated her 88th birthday on July 4, 2014 with her family by her side and passed away peacefully at 2:03 am on July 5, 2014. Gladys wished to be cremated with no services held.
