Gilda Zapfe went to the Lord on November 12, 2020, after an illness.
She was born in 1953 in Crystal City, Texas, to Jose and Olivia Gomez. She lived in northern California before coming to Colorado with her husband Charles (Mike) Zapfe. She raised her children and kept up her household throughout these moves.
She was involved in her church and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary, and received a letter of commendation form the mayor of San Jose for her involvement with Project Crackdown.
She will be leaving behind her beloved husband, Mike, along with her children Brian (Susie), Stephanie Rainer, and Mike (Tiny).
She will also be leaving her grandchildren: Vanessa, Katelyn, Kyle, Owen, Aaron, Alyssa, Noah and Liam; her siblings Gloria, Theresa, Cecilia, Joe, Oscar and Carrie.
She will be dearly missed by her family, her parish, and her community.
Her visitation will begin at 5pm on Wednesday, November 18th at Our Lady of Loreto. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:30pm that evening.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be the following day, Thursday, November 19th, at 10am at Our Lady of Loreto. Her graveside service at Saint Simeon Cemetery will follow.
Due to COVID restrictions, Our Lady of Loreto is asking for only 150 people to attend any of these events. The Mass will be live streamed that morning by the church.
