Gerald Wayne Human

Gerald Wayne Human, lovingly known as “Jerry” or “Big Jer,” passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, leaving a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love. Born June 27, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas, to Ina and Guy Human. As a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he cherished his family and was, above all, a devoted husband to Nancy.

After high school, Jerry attended Wichita Technical School, and earned a degree in electronics. From 1960 to 1963, he served in the US Army, attaining the rank of Sp-4 and an honorable discharge. Returning home, Jerry began studying business at Wichita State University while working full-time at Boeing Aircraft.

Jerry married Nancy (Bowlby) on July 16, 1966. In 1970, they moved to Denver, Colorado, where they bought their first home and raised four beloved children—Traci (Ron Houghton) of Denver, Michelle (Rob Barringer) of Hartsel, CO, Amy (Bryce Robinson) of Mission Viejo, CA, and Mark (Marcela Chavez-Human) of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Jerry took great pride in his family, and their home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.

Jerry built a successful service station business in Denver, owning two Amoco stations and one Shamrock station for nearly four decades. He loved talking with customers, many of whom became friends. He was active in organizations including the El Jebel Shriners, Sandblasters, Royal Order of Jesters, Derby Masons, Denver Consistory of Colorado Freemasonry, Lakewood Colorado Elks, and the American Legion. He was especially proud to be a U.S. veteran.

Jerry is survived by his wife Nancy, his four children, ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy. He is also survived by his brother, James Roy, his sister, Mildred Gasaway, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family in Kansas. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Human, and sister Betty Wyant.

He loved golf, a good beer, and country music, and cherished every moment with his loyal dog, Blackjack. Jerry always had a great sense of humor and loved telling jokes and making people laugh. Most of all, he treasured the time he shared with family and friends—whether around the dinner table, at a backyard barbecue, or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Jerry's warmth and friendliness touched everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the stories, laughter, and love shared by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
