Gerald Raymond Bueker was born on September 11, 1949 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Emil William and Ella Mae (Higgins) Bueker. Gerry entered into eternal peace on June 12, 2025 surrounded by his loving family in Colorado.
Gerry served in the US Army Special Forces (The Green Berets) in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. He served with honor receiving many commendations including a Silver Star, Bronze Star and 5 Purple Hearts. He endured multiple severe injuries such as gunshot wounds, shrapnel wounds and a broken back.
Upon returning from Vietnam, he joined the FBI. His hiring required a special age waiver and the approval of FBI Director J Edgar Hoover himself, because Gerry had not yet turned 21 years. He was sought out by them due to his outstanding military record of extraordinary valor, unique training and skill sets. He served as a FBI Special Agent for many years but was called back to the military for Special Forces covert and clandestine operations in Panama, Grenada, Iraq, Kuwait as well as returning to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos on five separate covert missions to develop intel in order to rescue POWs who had been left behind.
Over the years with the FBI, he served on many investigative cases as well as the Organized Crime Task Force where he performed undercover roles in the effort to stop Organized Crime activities. Throughout his career he was bounced back to the Army, FBI, and CIA to fight the war on terror. He went to Iran in 1979 in an undercover capacity to gather intel for a possible rescue mission of the US Embassy hostages during the Jimmy Carter Administration. After 9-11 which happened to be on his birthday, he was involved with the mission to capture Osama Bin Laden when he fled Afghanistan to Pakistan immediately after the attack.
Gerry was also sought out by author Tom Clancy to consult on the development of a special operation composite character for a series of future novels he was writing. Gerry and 3 other high decorated military heroes contributed their expertise and experiences to develop the Special Operations/Navy Seal character named John Kelly first appearing in his novel, "Without Remorse." Gerry was an American Patriot who dedicated his life to serving the United States of America in a multitude of ways for the Bureau, the United States Army and the CIA until multiple battle injuries and personal health issues formed him to be less mobile. He still continued to serve in an advisory administrative role until his retirement.
Gerry was a loving and dedicated son, brother, father, grandfather and a special friend to many. He leaves behind his girlfriend Joanne Nawrocki; former wife Laverna Brook; children, Lisa Bueker, Laura Bueker, Thomas Bueker and wife Yesica, Brian Bueker, Clifford Brady, Susan, Chapo and Prairie Rose; grandchildren Kellen, Trinity, Lindsey, Emily, Rebecca, Apollo, Nerf, Goose and Bug; brother Ronald Hansen; other family and a friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ardel and Arthur Bueker.
