Genevieve "Gennie" Lapsley

Genevieve Mildred Lapsley, 92, entered into the presence of her Lord on January 14, 2023 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Genevieve was born on June 25, 1930 in Provo, Utah to Kenneth and Mildred Cox. She was the oldest of five children.

Genevieve “Gennie” moved from Utah to California when she was in her early 20’s where she met and married her husband of 39 years, William F Lapsley.  Both worked in Finance where “Bill” was her boss and their marriage was a secret for at least a year.

Gennie and Bill had three children, Rebecca (Lee), Dennis and Calleen; two step children, William G and Carolee; four grandchildren, Adam, Hannah (Jared), Derek, Zachary; and eight great grandchildren.

She was devoted to her husband and family and loved to travel. Bill and Gennie bought a motorhome where they spent their free time traveling and visiting places they longed to see. This brought them several years of happiness until Bill’s death in 1996. She then spent her time helping others, where she loved to bake for others and was well known by friends and family for her fudge every Christmas.

Gennie is survived by her brother LaVar, sister Joyce, her children, grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, brother Norman, sister Mary, step-daughter Carolee, son-in-law Lee, great granddaughter Ava.

Her final resting place will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery with her husband Bill.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12995 W 72nd Avenue, Arvada, CO  80005.
